Monthly news : March 2006

I'm fat, I want to get in shape, and so I'll work out once a month.

That sounds ridiculous doesn't it? Yet that's what so many patients want to do. Well it doesn't work that way. How many years does it take to get really fat? How many days of not exercising? How much emotional baggage is hanging on to your shoulders? How long has the damage to your joints, heart, lungs and mind occured? It seems foolish to think we can change by exercising one time a month or even one time a week when we think about it. It is the same with healing. We as a society are so used to just popping a pill and feeling better that we think we can heal just as easily. Let's get real! Pills don't heal us, they control symptoms and the side effects can be deadly. This does not mean that drugs do not have their place, but they do not heal. They control symptoms. You see healing comes from within, but it takes time. Does a person wake up one day and have type II diabetes? Of course not, it is developed through poor habits, diet, subluxations, stress, etc. In fact most of the disease processes like diabetes and heart disease, arthritis etc. can be prevented and cured, and not by taking pills.

Well then how? By making changes. Changes to how we think, what we eat, exercise, and structural changes to the spine because the function of the body is directly related to spinal function. By working hard at health. And you know what? There are no side effects, especially ones that can kill you. That's right, there are no side effects to healing without drugs. But it takes time, it takes commitment, and it takes regularity. Sometimes the herbs may not taste great, or you may have to miss that TV show for an office visit. You may even have to listen to a talk by the doctor. That's right, it may be a pain in the butt. Yes, it can be hard work, but so does anything that is worth it.

You are 45 and on drugs for Ulcerative Colitis. Do you really think at 70 you are going to feel great? If you keep taking pills and not making real changes to your health what is going to happen?

It is time to stop whining, time to start taking control, time to make a change and time to heal. It is time to do it NOW, right now!

Healing for living,
